No, everything else is easier. The only reason why it's harder is because unlike your minecraft 2ds update you're working on, my terrain generation code develops elevated terrain, not just one huge piece of flat chunk. So my game has hills and stuff in it.

Awesome! Does it / will it generate trees?

I will be releasing a new version of crafters in the near feature. I found away to get the game not to crash. The terrain generation is still partially glithcy though. All I have left to do is add code to generate caves and then I'll post it

I can post what I have in a day or so when I get time. It has terrain generation for dirt, but it doesn't have any stone spawned in the world (however stone can be placed if you're in free build mode).

The original post has been updated with the newest version of Crafters DS! I didn't add actual gave generation because I was too busy so I just spawned a layer of stone naturally. The biggest updates include many bug fixes, user interface for the top screen, stone blocks, random terrain generation, free build mode (creative), and gather mode (survival). To toggle modes, hit select. To reform the world hit start since the terrain generation code can be a little glitchy and mess up the room. Let me know what you think!

Nobody, some ideas:
1: Looping world
-Right edge leads to left edge, and vice versa.

2: Displaying terrain in a curve (like Animal Crossing)
-Have the blocks in the center of the view at their normal Y - 1, to the left and right of the center at normal
Y, and the blocks at the edges of the view at Normal Y+1; or something like that.
the blocks will look like this: _________-------------__________
on flat ground::::::::::::----- _________------------__________-------

3: Bigger World
-Have the worlds be pretty large, if possible.

If you accomplish these ideas, the game will give the illusion of being on a small planet or something. Just some thoughts.

1. An interesting concept, shouldn't be too hard to do.
2. I could do that for the terrain, but I wanted the terrain to be rougher. I will hopefully get the terrain generator to run smoother though.
3. Yes, this is very possible. I could make the room bigger than necessary if I really wanted to. All I have to do to make the room bigger is make the double array bigger. I plan on making the room much bigger after a few more key features are added.

and thanks for the feedback!

It works pretty well. Good job.

In Minecraft, the small trees spawn like the trees in 1.4, but the blocks of wood spawn in the tree's leaves, like this:
.........................▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓
.......................▓▓▓▓▓ ▉▓▓▓▓▓
....................... ▓▓▓▓ ▉▓▓▓▓
.................................
.................................
.................................

Just an idea/suggestion.

The looping room idea sounds interesting...

I've put some couple of ideas into the tree generator. That was the best looking design I could come up with

Now, for Idea #2, it would work for all terrain, not just flat ground. Sorry if I did not imply that.
It's not necessary, but I would like to at least see if it looks good.

I haven't had much time, but I'll see what I can do for the next update! I will probably be fixing the terrain building code because it uses a lot of for loops to generate things and I think the library gets confused sometimes with it. That means I'm going to have to go through instead and code each tree for instance block by block instead of having like four different four loops that generate the pattern. After that, I'm not sure what I'll work on next. I'll either do mobs or crafting first.

Ran into a weird glitch;
When you are falling from the sky your sprite seems to change to dirt or leaves.
Just thought i would let you know.

hey three things,
1:do you think this would work for saving the way you do it?
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1573
two: if you've seen my post about wanting to port "prison architect"
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3473
i was wonder how you are doing the editing blocks, and also wondering if you could e-mail me the dsgm files?
(benjamer@ymail.com) thanks!
3: what method do you think i should use for saving?(if you answered yes to question 1; never mind... , if you answered no; do you think i should change the way the saving works, or the other way around?)

-thanks in advance!
