I Heard You Guys Like 3D

Postby JanMulder » July 30th, 2013, 1:56 pm

Well, since we appear to be on the subject of 3D projects, I thought let's see how far we can go with 3D without having to install complicated libraries and generate 3D models all the way through 5 different programs.

I promise you guys the .nds-file in the attachment is compiled with DS Game Maker 5. I haven't secretly changed anything behind the scenes in PAlib or libnds. This is just a 16 bit background and a lot of complicated maths.

(287.06 KiB) Downloaded 243 times

Here's how it works:
Up: move up along the Z-axis
Down: move down along the Z-axis
Left: move left along the Y-axis
Right: move right along the Y-axis
A: move forward along the X-axis
B: move backwards along the X-axis
L: turn your "head" to the left
R: turn your "head" to the right
X: look up
Y: look down

In the back you see the horizon.

This is the result of one night's work... So how do you guys like it? Should I go further with it?

Huh. I wonder what we could do with that... good job.
Still alive. Still ashamed of my past behavior on these forums.
No, really. I'm sorry.

If you see me, no you don't.
Won't be on here as a participant because I have no games in mind to actively pursue and finish. Busy with multiple roleplays and writing, anyway.

Current projects:

The Great and Powerful Text-Based Game
P0rtal DS (In perpetual hiatus until Sonic comes back (probably never))

Cool, I was actually going to try drawing 3d models using a drawable background too. Nice work!
